Matèria is very proud to announce Bekhbaatar Enkhtur as the winner of the 23rd edition of the illy Present Future Prize, supported by illycaffè since 2001 and assigned to the most interesting project in Present Future, the section of Artissima devoted to emerging talents.

The prize has been awarded by an international jury composed of Tom Engels, artistic director, Grazer Kunstverein, Graz, Robert Leckie, director, Spike Island, Bristol, Kasia Redzisz, artistic director, KANAL Centre Pompidou, Brussels, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, president, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino, with the following remarks:

The jury is delighted to present the illy Present Future 2023 Prize to Bekhbaatar Enkhtur, represented by Matèria. Enkhtur’s manipulation of ephemeral and everyday materials constructs a unique mythological narrative, evoking visions of a past life as if extracted from the depths of collective memory. Enkhtur’s work not only demonstrates sculptural finesse but also invites viewers into an intimate universe, in which history and cultural heritage are reimagined.
